Fundraising tips for your Snail Race Night
Here are a few tips to help you with your race night fund raising:
1. Identify your organisation / good cause
Let everyone know the name of your organization or your good cause and why you need to raise money.
2. Team work
Successful fundraising requires planning and teamwork. Try to get a dedicated and responsible team to share the workload. Start planning the event with adequate time and keep track of progress with regular meetings.
3. Set your targets
Calculate how much money is required and by which deadline.
4. Keep records
Keep accurate account of the expenditure and cost of the event. Summarise these when the event is completed. You can send copies of a summary to your sponsors and to other interested parties.
5. The 'all-important' Sponsors
5.1. Identify Sponsors
Sponsorship is normally an important part of fundraising. Companies and individuals may sponsor events for the following reasons:
- increased public awareness of the Company, its products or service
- improved attitude towards the Company
- improved relationships with the local community, employees & suppliers
- a sincere wish to help
Pinpoint likely sponsors who, for any of the above reasons, may be keen to help.
5.2. Timing
Companies are generally unable to move as fast as individuals. Company executives may need to hold internal meetings and fill out forms to request and account for sponsorship money, prizes or gift vouchers. So allow plenty of time.
5.3. Reporting
Keep all your sponsors well informed. Let them know about any publicity.
5.4. Involvement
Involve your sponsors. Let them know you are grateful for their help. Invite them to attend your meetings. Thank them publicly, and, when its all over, thank them again and let them know the attendance figures and the amount raised.
If you treat your sponsors well and lay on a professional event they should be delighted to support you again!
