Follow Your Dreams is a national charity that inspires children and young people with learning disabilities to follow their dreams. All money you raise will be spent in your LOCAL COMMUNITY, as we work with children and young people across the UK. . . . Some people dream of winning the lottery, a life in the sun and a specialist car. The people we help have one simple dream – to be accepted for just who they are. We are a UK charity that supports children with learning disabilities, some with life-limiting medical or severe developmental conditions. Follow Your Dreams inspire the ambitions of children and young people by delivering enjoyable methods of learning and play. In the UK: • 2 Babies are born every day with Down syndrome • 1:400 people have Cerebral Palsy • 1:100 people have Autism • 1:15 people are affected by ADHD or Dyslexia. We support people with Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, ADHD and other special needs to explore and develop their potential through Music, Art, Sport or Drama. Like Aaron, just 4 years old, unable to walk, talk or eat at present, where a special needs swing has enabled him to have fun in the fresh air and develop his skills. We help hundreds of children and young people with special needs throughout England and Wales to develop their potential. We focus on their abilities and identify opportunities, growing and developing skills through the delivery of creative and interactive events, dreams and workshops through collaborative partnerships. Recent events include puppet making/theatre workshops and young dream-makers enterprise events which include areas such as cupcake making/selling, fruit and veg growing and selling and jewellery production. This year, we have brought smiles and laughter to over 150 children with learning disabilities and their families with our Circus partnership. We inspire these children to see beyond immediate challenges, encourage them to follow their dreams and believe in themselves and develop their talents and skills, empower them with the knowledge, beliefs and tools to achieve and understand that the possibilities are endless. We also provide a unique video in action CV through our charity project www.mycvinaction.com which demonstrates the person in an workplace situation and provides references from tutors, supervisors, carers etc. The project is currently being piloted and early results have proven employability and the added benefit of much improved self-esteem. We are only a relatively small charity, totally reliant on public donations, having not received any government support or major grant funding (Lottery or Children in Need) for our cause. However, we do have a terrific following of over 90,000 people on social media. Your support will make a real difference to our charity. Together, WE can help so many children and young people with special needs follow their dreams, celebrate achievement and purely and simply HAVE FUN!
