We are working to regenerate scarred, industrial land across the 61 square miles between Bedford and Milton Keynes by creating green spaces and increasing woodland cover. Funded by our social enterprise - The Forest Centre - we have increased woodland cover across the Marston Vale from 3% to 10% since 1991 with the aim of planting 5 million trees by 2031. As one of 12 community forests in the UK, we have repaired grey, industrial land and created beautiful open, green spaces for future generations and current residents to enjoy, as well as countless new habitats for wildlife (some rare to Bedfordshire.) With obvious environmental benefits, the Forest also leads to wider social and economic regeneration, as well as being somewhere lovely for people to visit from across the county and wider area. The Forest Centre is a visitors centre, Café, events hub and venue for hire and brings in all the vital funds for tree planting, woodland management and the purchasing of land across the Vale.
