BUDS - Better Understanding of Dementia for Sandwell is a well established charity set up to support and meet the needs of families in Sandwell who are affected by dementia; this includes the person living with dementia. BUDS provides a unique service through care, social contact and a stimulating environment at its nineteen weekday clubs. These meet at various locations across the six towns within the borough of Sandwell. The volunteer-led befriending service for people living with dementia also gives carers the opportunity to have a couple of hour's respite each week, which can be priceless. BUDS also provides tranining to social services and healthcare professionals to enable them to recognise signs of dementia and to be able to respond accordingly.
