Since 1988 Thornberry Animal Sanctuary has been caring for and re-homing abandoned and neglected dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and other small animals in South Yorkshire and North Notts and Derbyshire. Here at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary we find new loving homes for hundreds of unwanted and abandoned dogs, cats, horses and other small animals each year. With room for over thirty of each dogs, cats, horses and rabbits we are a busy charity re-homing as many animals as we can (for example, 350 cats were re-homed in 2015). We operate a "no kill" policy so no healthy animal in our care will ever be put to sleep, regardless of their behaviour and temperament. As anyone dedicated to their pet knows housing, feeding and offering all the animals in our care first-class medical care and enrichment doesn’t come cheap – our vet bills alone are up to £9,000 each month! As a registered charity, without the kind generosity of our supporters we wouldn’t be able to continue the literally life-saving work caring for South Yorkshire's neglected animals that the dedicated staff and volunteers do day-in, day-out, regardless of the weather. The Sanctuary is open Tuesday – Sunday, 11am – 3pm, for visitors to find the newest member of their family, and at weekends to rummage through the charity shops or grab a cuppa and cake at the Cafe.
