We help to support some of Uganda's 2½ million orphans by working with the villagers among whom they live, providing clean available WATER, a MOBILE CLINIC, education in AGRICULTURE and NUTRITION. support in INCOME GENERATING and sponsoring EDUCATION . . . BkB is a Community based organisation founded by a Ugandan woman. It was set up in response to the numbers of orphans as a consequence of the AIDS epidemic. The Founder, Conche Jjengo, was adamant that the orphans remained in their villages, keeping their homes and land. We therefore support the villagers who keep an eye out for their orphans. We provide: CLEAN, AVAILABLE WATER: 161 pubic water sources to date providing for over 215,000 people HEALTH: A Mobile Clinic visits remote villages. It is the only medical intervention most have experienced. The Clinic treated 17,000 patients last year AGRICULTURE and NUTRITION: We provide training in environmentally friendly farming practices which contribute to higher yields. Our Organic Demonstration Farm furthers these aims. This training is accompanied by work with our Nutritionist. INCOME GENERTION: We hold workshops on Business Management and Skills Training. We fund start up assistance for small businesses. EDUCATION: We sponsor orphans and vulnerable children who would not otherwise attend school. Those we began helping in 1999 are now in Further Education. There are 121 children sponsored at this time.
