Imagine a local hospital where all the doctors and nurses have the latest state of the art equipment; where the non-medical needs of patients are treated with equal importance to their medical needs; where the comfort of the patients and their loved ones can be relied on to be as important as the medical care. This is the dream of the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust Charity. The Heart of England NHS Charity is the charity for our local hospitals – Heartlands Hospital Birmingham, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic. Our aim is to raise funds to enhance and improve patient care and facilities so our community has the best possible health care now and in the future. We are one of UK’s largest and busiest hospital trusts, with a strong profile of local services. Although our hospitals and services are funded by the NHS, there is always the need for extra money to provide an even better service to patients and their families. We designate donations according to donors’ wishes, so they can support the ward, department or particular cause or appeal of their choice. We then work with this team to ensure the money is used to make a real difference to the care of their patients. This may include: >Purchasing patient comforts, such as entertainment equipment, supporting arts and crafts activities, toys and books >Funding improvements to the hospital environment to make it more welcoming to patients >Providing facilities for patient family members for example, parent accommodation on the Children’s Unit >Funding state of the art equipment
